TERMS AND CONDITIONS

School Terms and Conditions – 2024

You are responsible for booking the correct level – All students must ensure they book on to the correct level. All students start at Level One, each level takes one day to complete, and all levels must be completed in sequence. In the event a student books on to an incorrect level and there is no availability in the correct level, the student will not be able to participate in the event as numbers for each level are strictly limited. There will be no refunds however, we will endeavour to reschedule your place at our discretion if more than 14 days notice of the error has been advised.

All students must meet the minimum licence requirement.

The minimum licence requirement to participate in the California Superbike School is as follows:

Full UK Driving Licence : This must allow you to ride a motorcycle on the road.

ACU Competition Licence :  we must be notified of this Licence prior to booking. Please contact the Head of Operations to advise and gain approval.

Risk – All participants ride at their own risk, whether riding in all or part of their sessions. All participants should take into account their own riding ability, the condition of their equipment and possible track conditions.

Booking Terms.

Students may not hand over their booking, in part or in full, to another rider at any time during an event.

Students may not transfer their booking in to another name without the prior consent of the Head of Operations. A written response and approval is required to enact this transfer.

California Superbike School accepts no responsibility if a rider fails to attend or does not ride.

California Superbike School accepts no responsibility if a participant fails to attend, cannot ride, is unfit to ride, or chooses not to ride in all or part of the day.

Regardless of the reason (including, but not limited to, weather conditions, work requirements, motorcycle problems, family crisis and health problems) there are no refunds or re-schedules either in part or in full.

Vouchers may be issued at the discretion of the California Superbike School in line with its cancellation or rescheduling policies.

Lap timing devices strictly prohibited, video recording equipment is at the discretion of GME Personnel and Course Control. Circuit Managment and/or Course Control’s decisions are final.

It is California Superbike School’s policy that students are not to use lap timing equipment while out on track at CSS events. In order to get the most out of the day students should have their attention focused on the drills they are working on, rather than on filming their session. This policy is based on historical data provided by California Superbike School USA, that has shown students with Lap Timers mounted to their bikes had a higher accident rate than those without. Our intention is for students to be in an environment that is as safe as possible at our events.

The consumption of alcohol and use of illegal substances is strictly prohibited. Any person found consuming, or to be effected by, alcohol or drugs will not be permitted to participate in the event.

With regard to dring and drug use, whether prescribed or other, refunds will not be given under any circumstances, and perpetrators risk being expelled from the venue and refused participation in future events.

California Superbike School reserves the right to subject riders to random breath testing and checking for any influence of drugs.

It is your responsibility to be in a fit condition to ride on the day.

Due to the high concentration requirements, California Superbike School strongly recommends a good night’s sleep and abstaining from alcohol and drugs (ALWAYS, but specifically) the night before your event. This does not include prescribed medication which is endorsed by your physician as being non-detrimental to your participation in this activity

If you do have a medical condition which requires prescription medication we advise you consult your GP and seek specific permission prior ot booking and/or attending the school.

Students may reschedule their booking, provided:

For bookings placed after 1st August 2020, provided it is more than 30 days from your booked event you can cancel your current booking and obtain a CSS voucher to rebook your event at a date that suits you within the next 12 month period, less a processing fee of £25.

There are no cash refunds. In the instance you are no longer wanting to use the voucher to attend the event in the future for any reason, you can pass/sell this voucher to another rider to utilise it within the voucher’s 12 month period, provided you have obtained written permission (E.g. Email confirmation) from the Head of Operations..

If it is less than 30 days to your booked event you cannot cancel and receive a voucher. You can, however, sell or transfer your position to another rider provided the rider taking the position fits the criteria for the booked school level and the day has not started. You are required to seek prior permission from the Head of Operations for this transfer and booking name change and reasonably this permission will not be withheld as long as the attendance criteria are met. The replacement student MUST undertake the same level and meet all CSSUK policy requirements. This policy also applies to any equipment (E.g. Motorcycle) hired for the event.

All students are responsible for ensuring their motorcycle is in a track-worthy condition – and passes scrutineering prior to attending the event.

Please refer to the motorcycle checklist located in Student Requirements.

All students are required to meet the minimum riding clothing requirements. Please see our FAQs for further information.

California Superbike School minimum riding clothing requirements are: leather suit (1 piece racing leathers or 2-piece which zip fully together no visible gaps). No textile clothing is allowed. Leather motorcycle gloves (overlapping suit sleeves), full-face helmet of minimum UK Standards which are stated as being of single shell construction (No flip-up helmets are allowed on circuit) and must be to ACU Gold standard and with an attached sticker. Full height leather motorcycle boots which overlap with the leather suit. (No work boots, short boots or training shoes are allowed).

Should there be an issue with any of the above please contact Jane at the office. Due to COVID we are not currently hiring clothing out.

From January 2022 - all participants at an MSV Circuit will need to wear a full length back protector.

When riders line up for sighting laps pitlane marshals will do their usual visual checks (for wristbands etc), and will now give a pat on the back to make sure the rider is wearing a full length back protector.

  • The back protector can be integrated or stand alone
  • The back protector should be full length to cover the majority of the rider’s spine
  • The back protector needs to be designed and fit for that purpose

All students are responsible for ensuring any utilised equipment is in a safe working condition.

All participants are responsible for ensuring any equipment used during California Superbike School is in a safe working condition. This includes all wiring and electrical items being compliant with relevant UK Standards (this may include having leads tested and tagged). Compressors, generators and other tools and equipment must be maintained and in a safe working condition. Electrical items such as tyre warmers must be plugged in to power boards fitted with RCD (Residual Current Device) protection; double adaptors are not to be used. California Superbike School may request equipment be taken out of use if not considered to meet the above standards.  All brake levers must have a ball end on them and if they do not then you may be asked to fit a cover.  Some circuits do require a brake and/or clutch lever guard. Please contact the Head of Operations to clarify which circuits specify this requirement.

All students are to abide by the Safe Handling of Fuel Guidelines.

All participants are to abide by the Safe Handling of Fuel Guidelines during California Superbike School. Strict guidelines must be followed concerning the amount of fuel permitted in garages (20L per rider), the suitability of fuel containers (labelled and UK Standards compliant), and safe refuelling procedures (avoidance of spills and ignition sources). These guidelines will be on display at the circuit on the day of the event.

NO SMOKING IN THE GARAGES OR IN THE PIT LANE.

Payment conditions:

All school places must be fully paid up prior to attending an event. Anyone who has not made payment in full 14 days in advance of any event in full will run the risk of their chosen dates being released to other customers. In these circumstances a refund amounting to the amount paid less £25 administration fee wil be paid back to the customer whose place was released in the form of a voucher which will remain valid for 12 months from the date of issue.

If you are making additional or staged payments over time please ensure you include your name and order number in any transaction reference.

If full payment is not received 14 days prior to your event booking your place will be cancelled, and a CSS voucher will be issued to you for funds paid to date less a processing fee of £25. There are no cash refunds. In the instance you are no longer wanting to use the voucher to attend the event in the future for any reason, you can pass/sell this voucher to another rider to utilise it within the voucher’s 12 month validity period, provided you have received written permission from the California Superbike School’s Head of Operations such that the voucher can be reassigned.

Adverse weather conditions – The California Superbike School can not control weather conditions. If it rains we get wet; if the sun shines we get hot. California Superbike School accepts no responsibility should an event be cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances, including but not limited to, extreme weather. In this event there will be no refunds or transfers.

However, if a school event does not complete at least 1 full rotation of all groups on track and all classroom sessions, then California Superbike School will endeavour to provide a replacement day at the management’s discretion. If a rescheduled day is offered and this does not fit in with a customer’s plans there will be no refunds or transfers from the rescheduled day under any circumstances.

In the unfortunate event that the circuit owner can not provide a rescheduled day then there will be no refunds or transfers.
